About the Director

Megumi Inman is a Japanese-British director/producer born in Tokyo she grew and went to school in both Japan and the UK. With a both roots in and outside Japan it gives her a unique perspective of being able to see the country as both home and with an outsiders eye. She has worked and travelled extensively in Japan and has a strong interest in traditional crafts and human geography. While making a short film about Japans last remaining cooper Megumi came across Aramasa Brewery and the small rural village of Uyashanai and felt she had to follow and tell the story at this critical moment in their history. Disappearing Village is her debut feature documentary, she has been developing and filming on the project for the past 3 years. Megumi has a background in both British and Japanese documentary film making having worked on documentaries for the BBC, NHK, Sky Arts and Channel 4.
